Leadership
Rabbi Randy Sheinberg
Welcome to Temple Tikvah! I am Randy Ellen Sheinberg, and I am privileged to serve as the rabbinic leader of Temple Tikvah. I have served as the rabbi of Temple Tikvah, and one of its founding congregations, Temple Emanuel of New Hyde Park, for over seven years, and I am proud of the community we are creating here.
I attended Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion at its Jerusalem and New York campuses, and received my rabbinical ordination in 2000, and my M.A. in Hebrew Letters in 1999. Earlier I attained both a B.A. in English Language and Literature and an M.A. in Public and Private Management from Yale University. Prior to becoming the rabbi of Temple Emanuel of New Hyde Park in 2003, I served as Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Rodeph Sholom of New York City.
Prior to studying for the rabbinate, I spent eight years in the corporate world, working as a manager and consultant in the areas of training and development, transition management, and teambuilding. As a student, I brought my background in organizational transformation to the Jewish world through such programs as Synagogue 2000, the Experiment in Congregational Education (ECE), and the URJ Partners for Synagogue Change. I also served as student rabbi for congregations in Kitchener, Ontario and Reston, Virginia for extended internships, and led High Holyday services in Laramie, Wyoming and Mumbai, India.
I currently co-chair the Governance Task Force of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, and serve as Treasurer of the Yale Slifka Center for Jewish Life. I am a fellow of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (IJS) Hevraya program, a Jewish Spiritual Director, and an active participant in a local interfaith network.
I was raised on Long Island, and have lived most of my life in the greater New York area. I love to travel, (some of my favorite destinations have been the Galapagos Islands, Guatemala, India and South Africa). In my spare time, you can find me in the theater or walking on the beach. I am blessed to be married to Marty Cohen, mother to Paola, and step-mother to Ariel.
I look forward to greeting you in person at Temple Tikvah!

Cantor Guy Bonné
We welcome Cantor Guy Bonné, who comes to us from Haifa, Israel. A graduate of HUC-JIR, School of Sacred Music, he has a Masters of Music in Sacred Music and Cantorial Investiture.
He has interned at the Village Temple, the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue, Temple Beth Jacob in Newburgh, and was the musical director of Morristown Jewish Center in Morristown, New Jersey. He has also performed and recorded concerts in China, England, Scotland, The Netherlands, and of course, Israel.
He served in the IDF as a paratrooper and paramedic.
In Cantor Bonné’s words, “With my music, I eagerly contribute to make a spiritual community, to celebrate the Jewish tradition and to bring young and old into the richness of our heritage. Because of my background, I hope I can represent a living connection to Israel and the Hebrew language. I am excited to be a part of a congregation whose professional and layleadership fosters a nurturing environment in which we will all be blessed and bring blessing to each other.”
Leadership
Lois Howard, President
Hi! My name is Lois Howard. I am the current President of Temple Tikvah. Twenty-one years ago my husband Richard and I joined the Temple so that our sons Seth and Ian could start Hebrew school. This was a brand new experience for me. You see, growing up I had no real Jewish upbringing and obviously had never belonged to a Temple before.
I wasn't sure what to expect. I really just joined because of the children. Although I did not plan on becoming active, I did find that I enjoyed going to all the holiday services and always found everyone very friendly. Somewhere along the line, the warm, wonderful women of Sisterhood got me involved and from there it all started. I was no longer an only child. I now had lots and lots of "Sisters." I eventually became Sisterhood President and also became active on the Temple Board as a Trustee. Even harder to believe, five years ago I became an Adult B'nai Mitzvah.
Now, I can't imagine not being a member of the Temple. It has become a very big part of my life - a place to share good times, bad times, happy and sad times. It's really true what they say about Temple Tikvah. It really is "A House of Worship That Feels Like Home." Give us a call and come on down. Meet the family - our wonderful Rabbi, our multi- talented Cantor, our dedicated Religious School Principal and our friendly Office Staff. We'd love to show you around. You won't be disappointed.
