Our History

The roots of Temple Tikvah lie in two
outstanding congregations:  Temple
Emanuel of New Hyde Park and Temple
Israel of Jamaica.  In the summer of 2008,
these two dynamic, responsive and inspired
congregations consolidated to form Temple
Tikvah, A Center for Reform Judaism.
Under the guidance of Rabbi Randy Sheinberg,
and with a membership residing in both
Queens and Nassau, the Temple Tikvah
congregation is hard at work to create a Temple
community that welcomes everyone.

Revitalized by the consolidation, the spirit
of our members is filled with hope, the meaning
of our Hebrew name, Tikvah:

Hope that our congregation will always
be a caring community, committed to
strong connections to our faith and to
each other.

Hope that our congregation will be an
active part of the multicultural community
that surrounds us in Queens and Nassau.

And hope that our congregation will honor
its belief in Tikun Olam:  healing the world
by following a path of social action.
